Geography  Master's

Overview

What is Geography at WVU like?

Description

Our Master of Arts in Geography provides students with cutting-edge training in the history and theory of geography, experience with advanced geographic research methodologies and specialized mentoring from faculty experts across the subdisciplinary fields of human geography, environmental geography and geographic information science.

The MA offers both a thesis and a project track. The thesis track is an in-depth research investigation, while the project track is a more structured and focused research undertaking. Students usually decide which track to pursue during their second semester of graduate study.

An MA requires 30 academic credit hours depending on the track selected and typically takes two years to complete. Applicants are required to list the names of potential advisors in their application and therefore should contact faculty in their proposed area of specialization before applying.
